Holy Days of Obligation
The Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord
(Christmas Day, December 25th) and the Solemnity
of the Immaculate Conception (December 8th) are
always Holy Days of Obligation in the United States,
regardless of the day they fall on.
For other movable Holy Days, Catholics in the
United States are not obligated to attend Mass if that
Holy Day falls on a Saturday or Monday.

Welcome Back Father Diaz!
Fr. Diaz returned from his well deserved vacation on July 1st.  We missed you, and hope you
had a wonderful visit with your family and friends.

2013 Cardinal's Appeal
To date we have received 61 pledges for a total of $11,637 against our goal of $10,500.
We understand the emotional and financial hardships everyone has endured as a result of
Hurricane Sandy.  That is why having achieved our goal is an outstanding credit to our
parishioners.

If you are in a position to do so, its not too late to make a pledge to the Cardinal's Appeal.
No amount is to small.

It was through last year's contributions to the Cardinal's Appeal that more than 250
St. Margaret Mary's families received Hurricane Sandy assistance.

50/50 Drawing
We held our final ticket based 50/50 drawing on July 2nd. The pot had swollen to $430.00.

Fr. Diaz  picked the winning ticket - congratulations to Laura Lamont; $215.00.

Starting in July, the 50/50 will be a $5.00 envelope based drawing.
Let's continue to make these drawings generous.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
If you or someone you know has been searching for the path to join or rejoin the Church and
make the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and/or Confirmation, the Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program is available at St. Margaret Mary's.  It is a wonderful
program which provides the candidates with a comprehensive religious foundation and readies
them for the blessed sacraments.

For more information please contact Mrs. Barbara Regan (718-351-2119 or 718-351-2612).
Or you may
Contact Us through this web site.  Additionally, you can stop by on Monday
evenings at 7:00pm in Dongan Hall (located in the rear meeting room under the Church).

Altar Society
The Altar Society is looking for volunteers to help keep the Sanctuary neat and clean.
We meet after the 9:00am Mass on Saturday (time flexible).  There are no dues and our
prayer is “All for Thee Most Sacred Heart of Jesus”.  Many of you noted that you were willing
to volunteer in last year's Parish Survey.  Now's the time we need your help.  Please contact the
rectory and mention that you would like to volunteer for the Altar Society -or - use
Contact Us.

Religious Education
It's going to be an exciting year for our Religious Education Program.  Registration is on going.
See Mrs. Barbara Regan at the Rectory to register for 2013-2014 Semester

Payment  plans are available.  Classes start Wednesday, September 18th.

Volunteers for Church and Rectory Work Needed
Volunteers and a supervisor/foreman are needed for a number of tasks.  We need people to
paint, carpenters to replace windows and doors, specialists to assist with the installation of a
new fencing, hedges trimmed, a few tree stubs to be removed.

Three people have already stepped forward.  More are vitally needed.  We know you all have
your own projects at home, but if you can spare a few hours a week for a couple of weeks it
would be greatly appreciated.

Weekly Rosary - Sundays at 11:30am
Please join us in the Church on Sundays at 11:30am to pray The Rosary.

Scripture Study - Mondays 7:00pm
Our Scripture Study Group is always open for new members.  We read the coming Sunday's
readings from the missallette and then read a small commentary on the readings.  After the
readings, a volunteer round-table discussion is held.

Sharing your experiences and hearing the experiences of others is greatly rewarding.
This Study program is very informally and all are welcomed.

While the Monday 9:30am sessions are on summer hiatus. The Monday evening session
at 7:00pm in Dongan Hall (located in the rear meeting room under the Church) is very active.
Come join us.

Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) - Tuesdays 7:00pm
A Lectio Divina Group has been formed at St. Margaret Mary.  The Lectio Divina describes a
way of reading the Scriptures whereby we gradually let go of our agenda and open ourselves to
what God wants to say to us.  Please join us on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm in the Rectory.
For additional information concerning the Lectio Divina at St. Margaret Mary click here.

Legion of Mary
Members of the parish have established a Legion of Mary praesidium. The Legion sees as its
priority the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life
of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals and
through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish.
