Catechetical Sunday
Catechetical Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday, September 20th  at the 10:00am Mass
at St. Margaret Mary Church
when there will be a blessing of  teachers and families followed
with a reception at the Olympia Activity Center (OAC – 1126 Olympia Blvd).

All St. Christopher-St. Margaret Mary  parishioners are invited.
Religious Education Classes begin on Wednesday, September 23rd.

Baptism Celebration
A special celebratory Mass will be dedicated to all those children baptized at
St. Christopher and St. Margaret Mary Churches in the last year.
It will be held on
Sunday, September 20st, 2015 at the 12:00noon Mass at the
church of St. Margaret Mary
.

There will be a reception immediately following the Mass with light refreshments in the
Olympia Activity Center, across the street from the church.

A child’s baptism is a very special day and it is only fitting that we honor that day.
We hope all the families of these children will attend this Mass and the reception.
All parishioners of St. Christopher-St.Margaret Mary are invited.

Jim Regan Food Pantry Dedication
On Sunday, September 27th at the St. Margaret Mary 10:00am Mass we will be dedicating the
St. Christopher-St. Margaret Mary Food Pantry to our colleague and deceased friend,
Jim Regan. September 27th is the feast day of St. Vincent de Paul, a proper way to remember Jim, as
he continuously gave of himself to others.

A plaque of recognition and a new food collection area in the Church will be offered during the Mass.
All are encouraged to  attend and bring an item of food for our food pantry in memory of Jim.
Immediately following mass there will be light refreshments for all under the church in Dongan Hall.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
2015 - 2016 Registration
St. Margaret Mary and St. Christopher
A new era of Religious Education has begun.  With the merger of St. Christopher and
St. Margaret Mary parishes one Religious Education Program has been formed.  Classes will be
held at the St. Margaret Mary site.  By joining forces there are more Catechists allowing for a
Wednesday Class option or a Sunday Class option.  For more information and to register
please contact with Mrs. Barbara Regan at:
-   (718) 351-2119 or
-  mmaryrectoryreled1@verizon.net or
-
click here for Registration information and Forms.

We accept children who have already been baptized from Grade 1 to Grade 8.

1st Penance and Communion are made in level 2 and Confirmation in level 8.
Our program is a continuing education program which builds on each previous year’s curriculum;
therefore, it is important that students remain in the program throughout.

For those who have reached the age of 7 and have not been baptized or have reached Grade 4
and have no religious education we have a separate program for them.

Religious Education Classes begin on
Wednesday, September 23rd and
Sunday, September 27th.  Classes will be held in St. Margaret Mary’s Dongan Hall
Classrooms.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
Are you being called to something more …
-  Are you restless and want more out of life?
-  Has your life’s journey had some ups and downs?
-  Do you feel joy is missing in your life?
Come follow us on a journey of faith ...

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for:
-  People who have never been Baptized and are considering the Catholic faith and teachings.
-  People who have been Baptized in other Christian    denominations but are interested in
Catholic beliefs.
-  People who have been Baptized in the Catholic faith but have not received the other
Sacraments of Initiation, namely Confirmation and Communion.
-  Catholics who would like to be part of the RCIA Team.

At St. Christopher - St. Margaret Mary Parish our RCIA process is a year round journey of faith
taken at your own pace.  We are aware that life happens and everyone is an individual with their
own agenda and responsibilities to accomplish.

Our meetings are held in a friendly, stress free, relaxed, no pressure, comfortable atmosphere.
So bring your questions and concerns and the Team will be happy to guide you on a faith
journey with the Lord.

SCRIPTURE STUDY
Please join us at a Scripture Study session.  They are held on:
-  Mondays at 7:00pm in the Dongan Hall Meeting Room, and
-  The Tuesday immediately after he 9:00am Mass in the Rectory session is in recess for the summer.

These sessions read the scriptures for the coming week and a reflection of each reading.
There is then a round table discussion as to how the readings impact the individual.
If you are shy or don’t wish to share your experiences, that’s fine.  No one is required
to do anything other than listen to and reflect on the readings.

Over the years we have had many people attend these sessions and all walk away with a
better feeling of themselves and others. As one participant has mentioned “this is food
for our mind and soul.”

We are not Biblical Scholars, we are a group of individuals who obtain a great deal
out of the teachings from the Bible. The sessions are very informal and we even provide
coffee and treats.

Could God be calling
you to be a priest?

The faithful expect
only one thing from
priests: that they be
specialists in
promoting the encounter
between man and God.
The priest is not asked
to be an expert in
economics, construction or
politics. He is expected to
be an expert in the
spiritual life.

– Pope Benedict XVI

God made you for a unique
purpose.  Even before you
were born, he knew your
vocation, your mission in
life.  And if you are a
faithful Catholic man,
God may be calling you for
a higher purpose - to
become a Catholic priest.
